Continual Improvement
ISO 14001:2026 covers Continuous Improvement in section 10.1, a change from ISO 14001:2015 where 10.3 addressed Continuous Improvement.
10.1 requires an organization to determine and identify opportunities for improving their EMS. This requirement is designed to ensure that your EMS is effective and adequate for your organization environmental performance.
Organizations must determine opportunities for improvement in regard to Section 9.1, “Monitoring, measurement, analysis, and evaluation,” Section 9.2, “Internal Audit,” and Section 9.3 “Management review” and 10.2 Nonconformity and corrective action. Using this information, the organization must actively look for opportunities to improve processes, products or services, for successful outcomes.
