ISO 14001:2015 Communication
Clause 7.4 covers communication of your organization’s EMS. This clause refers to all types of communication, whether that is internal or external. 7.4 requires an organization to develop and sustain process for internal communications between all levels and functions and also requires the organization to document and respond to all external interested parties in regards to the EMS.
Overall the organization is required to create, act upon and maintain the processes needed for all communications related to the EMS. When establishing this process the organization needs to determine several factors of communication including:
- when to communicate
- who the organization should communicate with
- how to communicate
This process is established by the considering the organization’s compliance obligations and also by guaranteeing that environmental information communicated is consistent with information that is generated within the EMS. The organization is required to respond to relevant communications on its EMS. All information communicated in regards to the EMS must be documented.
