14001 Environmental Planning
ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) planning consists of organizations identifying elements of its business that relate to the environment. When implementing an EMS, your organization must take action to meet necessary elements of ISO 14001.
This includes:
- Your organization needs to identify environmental aspects and impacts of its activities, products and services. For example- air emission, water pollutants, chemical use and disposal of and overall energy consumption.
- Next, the organization must recognize any legal requirement and ISO 14001 requirement that apply to the organization. The organization also must verify that any employee whose job relates to these requirements must be appropriate training and knowledge in regards to the requirements.
- Furthermore, the organization must set and document objectives and targets. Not all environmental aspects need objectives and goals, in certain cases the significant aspect may be under operational control.
- Establish roles and responsibilities related to environmental performance to ensure accountability for less than desired environmental performance.
