Organizations must determine the necessary competence of persons doing work under its control that influences its environmental performance and the organization’s capacity to fulfill its compliance agreement.
The organization must ensure that these persons are qualified on the basis of education, training, and experience in regards to the environmental performance. The organization must determine training needs associated with its environmental aspects and its environmental or management system and where relevant, take actions to gain the crucial knowledge, and also evaluate the performance of actions taken. These relevant actions can apply to current employees, hiring new staff or contracting out positions to capable persons.
