Scope

The scope of ISO 14001:2015 is specified in the International Standard for an organization that is trying to improve their environmental performance.

The EMS is intended for use by an organization, allowing the organization to manage their environmental responsibilities in a well-structured manner to help contribute to the environmental pillar of sustainability. The EMS is in place to help an organization accomplish their environmental management goals. When your organization puts in place the EMS, not only are you helping the environment with your practices, but you are also improving the value of your organization and for interested parties.

The EMS was designed for all organizations despite the type, size or nature. Furthermore, the EMS applies to all aspects of an organization such as its activities, products, and services that the organization has determined it can control or influence.

The International Standard can be integrated either in whole or in part in order to improve environmental management. Conformity cannot be claimed, however, unless all its requirements are integrated into an organization’s EMS and fulfilled without exclusion.
